When we buy things we strive for the best product features. We ask ourselves the question ‘what’s in it for me?’ and less ‘what’s in it for society?’. So what’s in it for you? Our bag has an XL size which means it’s big enough for your week groceries, a sleep over or take your kids to the swimming pool. A multifunctional bag. The basic colours matches with any other color and it’s made from upcycled yarn 🧶 and by talented people in welfare. So hey don’t you think this is a good buy? ...

Last week. With Favour who joined us almost a year ago. She is from Nigeria and got the chance from her husband to learn how to sew. She had her own sewing shop back there, but came to the Netherlands. Its her dream to open her own African fashion shop. She is loyal, funny and a hard worker. New week ahead. Whoop whoop weekend! Time to watch our stories how we turn preloved shirts into something new for your little one. Because the most sustainable thing you can do to help to change the system is buy less, buy quality (to resell), to repair or to upcycle preloved clothes and/or fabrics. It all starts with demand and supply. Have a lovely Saturday💚 ...

All our bags are made from fabrics woven by @khaloom.textiles. Weaving is engrained in their families as the women who work there are raised with a handloom in their homes, the practice passed down by their grandmothers. Working with handlooms at Khaloom enables them to practice a job that makes them feel proud. All fabrics they make for us are made from recycled yarns. We love to work with so many dedicated and socially engaged women. ...

Almost weekend. And in our sustainable journey we tried a bamboo toothbrush. But that feels strange in your mouth! We dont like the wooden sticks of icecream and a bamboo brush feels the same. What do you use to brush your teeth? We now use an electric version, because do not know what the most sustainable option is, any ideas? ...

Yes, a new serie “Meet the makers of Atelier Little Boomerang”. Because without all the talented people we work with there is no impact. We want you to meet all of them and share their unique story. Sorry for the non Dutch, but the interviews will be in Dutch. Meet Sara. Read the full interview on our blog, see link in bio. ...

Never a dull moment when your’e buikding your own sewing atelier. At the moment we’re working on super cool projects for other brands (can not let you know which accept one, see IG stories) and working on a special edition for our own brand! And yes, it is not easy, because the machines are not always our best friends. They also needs some attention once in a while. Our professional and industrial lock machine has a little hic up, but Murphy’s law, our old one too. But Mohammed fixed the problem! ...

Although our focus is building our social atelier we still receive orders to make something special for your little one from your preloved shirts. The deliverytime takes a bit longer, because not everyone can make clothes. Thats the summum of making things. Think twice when and where you buy your clothes. Clothes are the biggest example of handcraft and someone made it who is an artist! Have a lovely weekend♻️ ...

Today is everything back to normal. Kids back to school, so full weeks to make our new dusty red bags. One week of Dutch sun, but you can also use our bag for all other activities, like yoga. And we’re curious, what kind of deodorant do you use? We found @soapwalla. Soapwalla products are made by hand in small batches in their NY studio. Local like we do. They use sustainable, organically grown and even edible ingredients, and no bad chemicals. We also try to take small steps in our sustainable journey. Have a lovely week💚 📷@louizameiking ...

Our atelier is not only about making sustainable and social products. Its also about collaboration and sharing energy with the neighbourhood. We are able to build our atelier, because we’re part of a community center in Amsterdam West, de Tagerijn. People feel at ease and safe in a community center. Meet Ranjit (left) who is responsible for the Tagerijn. He arranges everything in and around the building. He takes care of the people who work in the Tagerijn and supports us building up our atelier. And Kenneth? He supports Ranjit in his work and has always a happy face. We love to be part of this team! Thanks for this experience and learning how to (really) connect with people. 📷photo by @cocoolakunle ...
